BACKGROUND

Julia is one of the nation's better known young photographers of the moment. Her sometimes surrealistic images are both thought provoking and playful. She manipulates lighting,perspective, colour and scale, thereby forcing the viewer to question the reality of the situation. Made in a luscious palette of cinematic colours, with an eye that finds whole worlds in the details, these are pictures of a master photographer, who has developed the rare skill of making each image a doorway into reverie and poetry, even while solidly looking at the hard world that surrounds her.
