About Azem william

Based in a London studio, Azem William is an established designer and artist who started his career as a graphic designer. He’s worked across a range of different media, whilst building his reputation and skill as a Ceramist.

After completing studies in The Netherlands, Azem settled in London to start a career in the creative industry. He's worked as a designer on projects with world-leading brands and visionary artists including Virgin Atlantic, FIFA, FENDI, Coca-Cola, The Royal Academy of Arts, British Red Cross, TopShop, David Bowie, Damien Hirst and Bob Carlos Clarke.

He recently worked as Creative Director with London-based agency The Retail Practice to re-design the packaging for Hunkemöller - Europe's leading fashion lingerie brand with 800 stores across the world.

Azem started working in ceramics in 2013 when he was taught the skills of wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques by Master Potter Stuart Carey and artist Sharon Virtue. His inspiration is rooted in modernism alongside a real passion for the Arts & Crafts movement and ancient sculpture.

An exclusive range of Azem's ceramic pieces is available at Liberty in London.

"For me, working in ceramics is about creating an emotional connection. The love I put into sculpting and carving the clay with my hands becomes permanently fixed in my work once it's been fired. This love along with the feeling, time and dedication that I put into every piece, ultimately transfers from my hands into those who are holding it."
